Hi

I asked this before, but never got an answer. Why won't SD allow the pilot to file an IFR or combined IFR/VFR flight plan?

I know it's not an IFR product and it doesn't generate IFR routes, but I can create the routes myself using other tools and I would really like to be able to use SD for filing any of my flight plan no matter if they are V, I, Y or Z.

It only takes that you open up one field and allow the user to chose between the four letters.

That's incorrect. Most users filing IFR would have an expectation that the plan was addressed very differently to VFR plans, specifically being sent to CFMU for approval. So the issue is a lot more complicated than you imagine. If it really were that simple then we would of course do it - but when we do things, we try to do them right (or not at all).
